消費者の嗜好の多様化、経済のサービス化などに伴い、現在では世界の多くの企業が新製品・サービスの開発に消費者の声を生かすため、定期的に顧客満足度customer satisfactionを調査（CS調査）しています。
3年前にお客様に喜ばれた製品やサービスが、今ではまったく喜ばれなくなったということもありえるほど、現代は、あらゆる変化のスピードが早くなっています。
本当の「顧客満足」を紹介します。
文書作成は、1980年以前、ほとんどが手書きでした。
1985年以降になると文書作成は、ワードプロセッサー（略してワープロ）に変わって企業や個人が使うようになりました。ある会社でビジネス文書作成のためワープロを導入してから15年以上使用していました。
旧型になったワープロの買い替えを検討するためメーカーの営業マンに次期機種の相談をした時の話です。営業マンは、少し間をおき、話し始めました。次の機種を検討していると、お伺いしましたがワープロの生産は、一部のメーカーで継続生産を計画していますが、当社のワープロは、1年後を目安に生産を中止する事になりそうです。
商品を売り込むどころか予想していたものと違った提案をしてきました。
パソコン（PC）に同様の機能（Wordソフト）が搭載されているので、パソコンの導入をお勧めします。
今までワープロで作成した文書データはPCとの互換性がありません。しかし、当社が開発したPC変換出来るコンバーターソフトを無償で提供します。
100％Wordに変換は出来ませんが85％程度は可能です。
あとの15％は罫線など再入力の手打ちにはなります。
お客様にとってPCの導入は作業効率向上に欠かせないものになるはずです。
使い方も知らないPCの導入は不安でした。これからの時代は、PCが主流になります。営業マンの消費者目線の対応が本当の顧客満足だと思いました。
顧客満足は供給者が決めるものではなく消費者が決めるものです。消費者ニーズは、その時々で違うので各々の対応で異なります。音楽業界も、レコード盤からCDに置き換わりました。しかし、そのCDもWebダウンロードに市場をとられつつあります。顧客の期待そのものが常に変化をしているので、常に顧客が自社のどこに満足し、何に価値を感じているかを、つかんでおくことが重要です。
顧客満足を本当に実現するには、まず個々人の感性が必要です。相手のことを思いやり、相手が今何を考えているかを捉える感性です。そのうえに、それぞれのお客様に最適な対応をするというアイデアのセンスも求められます。
